Blue Moves Modern Dance Company presents “Blue Terra,” a free outdoor dance concert in Shelby Park in East Nashville on Saturday and Sunday, September 26th and 27th. Official Facebook Event is here: [hidden] Centered around the broad theme of Earth, the company presents five all-new choreographic works by company members, plus guest choreographer Erin Law. This event includes educational booths about greening and sustainability, guest artists DancEast Workshop, Reasons of Second Story Studio, and Louisville-based multi-media artists Camera Lucida. A drummer will serve as a guide, leading attendees from one site-specific choreographic work to another. Saturday’s performance will conclude with an optional moonlit nature walk led by Shelby Bottoms Nature Center staff. A pre-show, beginning at 5 p.m., will feature earth-inspired performances from local youth dancers from DancEast (Saturday only) and Second Story Studio (Sunday only), live music and time to peruse educational green and sustainability booths. “Blue Terra” begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Nature Center, from which the audience will embark upon a guided walking tour through trails and greenway of Shelby Bottoms. The tour will stop at various points on this path to experience dance in a natural setting. “Blue Terra” is the fourth in a series of performances inspired by an element, and the most recent project from a 25-year history of entertaining and informing audiences in middle Tennessee and beyond. This production is made possible by our fiscal sponsor, abrasiveMedia; community partners at DancEast; and generous support from Indiegogo donors. More Info below.
