Given the growing interest in flamenco, by the large Hispanic community that has come to the United States in the last decade, DANMAR created the idea of a flamenco dance competition, in order to provide incentives to a dance emerging movement and new tendencies granting recognition and prestige to young choreographers and dancers as well as promoting collaboration among dancers of any state in the US with the same passion and love for a gender of Spanish dance. The OPENING CONCERT, sponsored in part by the Hispanic Culture Institute of Houston and La Casa de Espana will be presented on October 24th, 2015 at the Berry Center, Houston with the participation of flamenco dancers and musicians from Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Spain and California. As its name says, the Opening Concert is the prelude of the 1st Flamenco Dance competition in Texas - Daniela Award, which will be held in Houston on April 1-3, 2016 and it is open for flamenco dancers in Texas and other US states as well. Prizes include a month in Spain at the Flamenco Institute of La Truco...... The OPENING CONCERT will be an amazing night of Live Flamenco to watch and feel.
