Director of the Dakini Rose Gardens, Temple, and Devadasi, and creator of the New Moon Serpent Dance Ceremonies, Monique Trinity Rose offers a taste of the Modern Fusion Temple Dance practice that she is developing in her home Temple from a lifetime (or more) of devotional dance. This practice incorporates components of pranayama and hatha yoga, chi gong based energy practices, prayer and intention, contemporary bellydance, Classical Indian Dance (Odissi, Kathak), Tantric Dance, and western dance foundations, creating an integrated journey into the essential role of today's rebirthed Temple Dancer. We will explore both the cultivated performance art component of this archetype, as well as the transformational personal practice available in this potent domain. We will begin with a brief discussion on the form, then move into the Dakini Rose Temple opening rituals, yoga conditioning, Indian Fusion bellydance drills, then culminating in a tantric dance based ritual to set our embodied intentions for the new year. This workshop is available to all levels, though some experience in yoga and/or bellydance is recommended.
