BIOGRAPHY Delanie Miller was born and raised in Boise, Idaho, and started dancing when she was 3 years old at Dance Dimensions. There, she trained with Julie Stevens, Teresa Vaughn, Kim Machado, and Melissa Larson. For the first 7 years of her dance education, she trained in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Lyrical, and Contemporary performing often for Boise State Basketball games, Freeze Frame, and other local events and performances. In 2007 she began her competitive career with Elevated Dance Project under the direction of Kim Machado and Melissa Larson. This gave her the opportunity to travel to places such as Utah, Washington, Arizona, and Colorado. During her senior year of high school she was a member of On the Verge, a local dance ensemble that is geared towards using dance as a medium to give back to the community. She also spent the last two years of high school assisting classes at EDP to get a feel for teaching. Upon graduating high school, she jumped right into teaching hip-hop at EDP and working with their competitive teams as a mentor. She has found her passion in hip-hop and still trains regularly with her mentor, Mikey Castro. She is always eager to learn and grow with her peers, mentors, and students, taking opportunities with gratitude and humility as they are presented. Mikey Castro started dancing at the end of his freshman year in 2006. In high school, Mikey was a self-taught freestyle dancer, learning from YouTube videos and colleagues around the area. He started taking his dance career seriously near the end of 2009 and has been fortunate enough to train extensively under the guidance of Max Pham Nguyen. He’s also been able to travel to places such as San Diego, Los Angeles, Sacramento, Las Vegas, and Seattle to train from very respected hip-hop teachers. Mikey has performed at various events such as the Boise Music Festival, Fusion Magazine Awards Show, and Shades of Black. Mikey has also opened up for multiple artists such as Billboard’s Top 100 Artist Tyga, Cash Cash, and Wallpaper. One of his dance videos was also featured on MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew as video of the week and he was had a feature in Dance Teacher Magazine. On top of that, Mikey has choreographed performances for local teen pop sensation Kady Richards and Darius Marcell. He has had several opportunities to teach in Arizona, Alaska, Utah, & Pittsburgh. Currently, he is on faculty for a convention called Turn It Up Dance Challenge. Mikey is a firm believer of dance being used as one of the greatest expressions of art and loves spreading his knowledge to students that are willing to learn. More Info below.
