Part I: Daniel and Adrian Volovets Duo Brothers Daniel (guitar) and Adrian Volovets (flute, tenor saxophone, and violin) are a duo whose telepathic musical communication and varied repertoire have brought them critical acclaim. Their music is a unique combination of flamenco, Brazilian, jazz, and classical genres, including inventive arrangements of old favorites and original compositions. Danieland Adrian's technical virtuosity and soulful interpretations have captivated audiences throughout the Twin Cities. Together, they have recorded several CDs, including their latest "Wistful Tendrils." They will perform a new program of traditional and modern flamenco, imbued with baroque, jazz, and Brazilian influences. Part II: "Noche Gitana" by Twin Cities Flamenco Artists Co-op with Festero Javier Heredia Guest Artists: Javier Heredia (Festero from Seville) La Rhina (Dancer from Seville) Daniel Volovets (Guitarist) Adrian Volovets (Flute, Tenor Saxophone, and Violin) TCFAC Artists: Trevor May (Guitarist) Sachiko Nishiuchi “La Chayí” (Dancer) Michael Ziegahn (Guitarist) "Noche Gitana" is a traditional flamenco music-and-dance performance series by TCFAC and guest artists directly from Spain. TCFAC will welcome two special guests for the night at The Cedar: flamenco festero Javier Heredia and a flamenco dancer La Rhina from Seville, Spain. Festeros are flamenco artists who specialize in singing and dancing in the fiestas of Andalusian villages and towns. Most of them learned to sing and dance in their families and communities without going to dance or singing schools. As this flamenco tradition is disappearing, fewer artists like Javier Heredia are seen. TCFAC's "Noche Gitana" celebrates the gypsy spirit and its culture and tradition through flamenco music, singing and dancing. Twin Cities Flamenco Artists Co-op (TCFAC) is a newly formed group founded in 2015 based on the shared goal of bringing authentic, traditional flamenco to the Twin Cities through performance, community activities and education, and working with flamenco singers on a daily basis. TCFAC also aims to satisfy the thirst of flamenco aficionados in the Twin Cities and to reach out to new audience members in flamenco. We have already put on two successful traditional flamenco tablao shows: "Noche Gitana" in September at The Nicollet and “Noche Gitana” in November at Icehouse Mpls, both with world-renowned flamenco artists directly from Andalusia.
