Intro to Modern Dance, April 3, 2-4PM Alejandra Iannone’s Modern Dance class is challenging, but cheerful. In it, students are encouraged to move with clarity, expression, and anatomical integrity. Her class places special emphasis on the relationship between breath and spinal articulation. Students will explore the fundamental positions and movements of Modern Dance through seated, standing, traveling, and improvisational. exercises. Cost for 2 hour master class $35. Reduced fee for Belle students. Reservation required. [hidden] Bio: Alejandra Iannone is an interdisciplinary artist and educator. She recently relocated to the Twin Cities after a decade in New York City. A versatile performer, she has danced soloist and ensemble roles in works by Penelope Freeh, Sidra Bell, Christopher Huggins, Ronald K. Brown, Elisa Monte, Pascal Rioult, Take Ueyama, Jacqulyn Buglisi, Donna Salgado, and Alvin Ailey. While in New York, Alejandra had the pleasure of performing the featured role of “Ballerina” in The Ride, a New York City Drama Desk Award Nominee. Favorite venues have included the Josie Robertson Plaza at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Jacob’s Pillow, The Ailey Citigroup Theater, and the Versace Mansion. Alejandra is the Young Children's Division Coordinator at Minnesota Dance Theatre, a former faculty member of the Ailey School’s Junior Division, and an ABT® Affiliate Teacher. She is a cum laude graduate of the Fordham University/Ailey School B.F.A. program and holds an M.A. in Philosophy from Temple University, where her research focused on Philosophy of Art.
