Stanton Welch’s Velocity Christopher Bruce’s Ghost Dances Ben Stevenson’s The Sleeping Beauty (Act III) The evening’s program will include a variety of works ranging from classical to contemporary. Opening the program will be Stanton Welch’s Velocity, a technically demanding and fast-paced ballet, followed by Christopher Bruce’s Ghost Dances. It is a moving work that evokes the political upheavals of Latin America and is danced to the hauntingly beautiful music of Inti-Illimani. Then to close the evening, there will be an adapted version of the third act from Ben Stevenson’s version of The Sleeping Beauty. The third act showcases the wedding of Princess Aurora and her prince surrounded by the lavish sets and designs by Desmond Heely. The Sleeping Beauty is one of the supreme achievements of classical ballet and is loved by audiences of all ages. This is a ticketed event for the covered seating area. Free tickets are available (4 per person over age 16 while they last) at the Miller Outdoor Theatre box office the day of the performance between the hours of 10:30am-1pm. If tickets remain at 1pm, the box office will re-open one hour before show time to distribute the remaining tickets. As always, open seating on the hill.
