When [hidden] and The Living Earth Show, two of the most exciting young arts organizations in the country, set out to build a collaborative production, we decided that the largest and most ambitious thing we could make together was a new reality. We built a universe together, and then imagined what the music and dance would look like within it. That universe couples absurdity and silliness with gloom and chaos to put a magnifying glass to the things we take for granted in our own lives. Where: Z Space. 450 Florida Street, San Francisco When: Thursday, August 4th – Saturday, August 6th 7:30pm. Doors open 8:00pm. 'Do Be' 9:30pm. [hidden] in the Z Space Lobby Admission: $35-55 Join us for an immersive experience that will engage your senses and challenge your expectations. Performed live by The Living Earth Show (electric guitarist Travis John Andrews and percussionist Andy Meyerson), the music has been written specifically for this production by some of the most innovative and acclaimed composers in the world: Christopher Cerrone, Jacob Cooper, Nicole Lizeé, Anna Meredith, and Jonathan Pfeffer. Post’s dynamic ensemble of modern ballet dancers, led by artistic director and choreographer Robert Dekkers, craft an experience that challenges conventions of the form and the very act of participating in artistic consumption. The collaborators wanted to see how far we could push ourselves, and in the process, accidentally made something larger, more intimate, and more uncomfortable than we thought possible. The culmination of three years of collaboration, 'Do Be' is our grandest offering to the city we call home. Additional collaborating artists include Christian Squires (costume/scenic design), Robby Gilson (video design), Jim French (lighting design), Brenden Blaine Darby (culinary design), and Dennis A. Aman (installation/sound design). [hidden] [hidden] More Info below.
