Moria Chappell, Lacey Sanchez, Tristan Bagoas Caron, Victoria Teel, and Nathalie Tedrick will be teaching a 2 hour worshops in Huntsville AL. Workshops will be held at Nomadic Tapestry. All this and a fabulous destination evening of dance and music for Halloween. The 1st portion of the night will be Halloween themed dances performed by workshop participants! The breathtaking 2nd part of the evening will be Moria Chappell's "Incantation" theatrical show with live music performed by August Hoerr and Tzignal Orkestar! The cast for this show is the weekend's workshop instructors; Moria Chappell, Lacey Sanchez, Tristan Bagoas Caron, Victoria Teel, Nathalie Tedrick and Petite Jamilla. The evening will finish with an open Dance Party to the live music of Tzignal Orkestar. The venue for this show is the Flying Monkey at Lowe Mill Arts on Saturday October 29th at 8pm. Audience participants are allowed to bring a cooler with libations and snacks to this venue. The 1st half of the show. solos 3:00 minutes group pieces 4:00 minutes max 1. All performers must register for 2 workshops to perform. 2. Saturday Oct 29th 2016 10:00am to 12:00pm Lacey Sanchez: “Folkloric Fun with Finger Cymbals” Inspired by Hahbi Ru and Bal Anat join Lacey for an earthy exploration of combinations and finger cymbal patterns to put a bounce in your step and a smile on your face! These combinations are perfect for Tribal Fusion and Tribal Style Improv dancers alike. We will discuss choreography options as well as cue options. Bio: Lacey is the director and owner of Florida Tribal Dance,Orlando's exclusive Tribal Bellydance school since 2006. She has been studying Middle Eastern and Tribal Bellydance since she was 15, starting in Southern California and eventually bringing her passion to Florida. Lacey prides herself on her upbeat personality that puts students in a fun place to learn as well as her meticulous breakdown of movements so whether you are a first time dancer or a seasoned professional you will find Lacey's teaching easy to comprehend and useful in any dancer' s progression. Lacey has been honored to travel and share her passion both onstage and in the studio. Some of the festivals and events she has been honored to teach and perform at are: TribalCon in Atlanta,GA, Cue and Tattoos in Seattle, WA, Tribalfest Sebastapool, CA, and South Korea's Annual Tribal Bellydance Festival hosted by JM Bellydance. 12:00pm to 1:00pm Lunch 1:00pm to 3:00pm Bagoas: “What Just Happened?!” Bagoas will teach a high energy Tribal Fusion choreography brimming with musicality, muscular isolation and attitude that will leave your audience wondering “What just happened?!” A wide range of movement will be used including layering, traveling, popping and locking, ticking, arm movements and turns. Student will leave with a full choreography that they can perform as a whole, or dissect into to small combos to incorporate into their own choreographies. Bio: Bagoas is an award winning fusion dancer known for his musicality, lyricism, technical power, precision, and down to interaction with his audience. In 2010 he won the title of the Yellow Rose of Texas at Ya Halla Y'all in the Professional Tribal Alternative Men's category. Since then he has taught and performed at festivals and venues along the East coast, where he has been lovingly described as an Atari joystick, one liquid muscle, the Energizer Bunny of belly dance, a blur of belly jiggles and most recently, a Red Hot Chili Pepper with Michael Jackson in his belly Show- Venue to be anounced. Musician call 6:00pm Dancer call 7:00pm Doors open 7:30pm Show starts 8:00pm Sunday, October 30,2016 10:00am to 12:00pm Nathalie Tedrick: “Hip Hop Belly Dance Pop!” In this workshop you will learn to seamlessly fuse Hip Hop and Belly Dance into impressive choreography. Study original combinations encompassing the dynamic movements found in these two very different styles. Never Hip-Hopped before? Not a problem! This class is geared towards Belly Dancers interested in improving their Belly Dance while exploring a new way of moving! Nathalie Tedrick is a Northern California Bay Area native. She toured internationally for seven years with Miles Copeland's Bellydance Superstars and has performed and taught Belly Dance across the US, Canada, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Her dancing has been featured on PBS, BBC, ABC, national and international commercials as well as various Persian music videos. Nathalie was honored to perform with the talented group Thievery Corporation during their West coast tour in 2015. Nathalie both teaches and performs regularly in the Bay Area and is privileged to share her art with the world. Her teaching schedule can be found on her website [hidden]. 12:00pm to 1:00pm Lunch 1:00pm to 3:00pm Moria Chapell: “Tentacles and Turntables” Learn unusual arm and leg extension belly dance combinations to celebrate the hallowed season’s desire to express the spooky, eerie, creepy and haunted aspects of what lies just beyond the veil. Come to learn these unique combinations created by Moria Chappell specifically for the season: Samhain’s Serpent, Ghouls’ Gala, Witch’s Wardrobe, Underworld Undulation, and Demoness Decomposition. Applicable for all levels of belly dance fusion. Moria Chappell travels across the globe performing and teaching the exquisite art of tribal fusion bellydance. Bio: Beginning her dance career in Atlanta, GA in 2001 with Awalim Dance Company, Moria moved to San Francisco in 2005 to study with The Suhaila Dance School, and was invited to join The Suhaila Dance Company and Bal Anat, from which she learned the extreme muscle control and isolation fundamental to her current style. That same year she was invited to join The Bellydance Superstars and thus her world travels began. In 2007 Moria taught 30 workshops in over 8 different countries and, via The Bellydance Superstars, performed in more than 15 countries worldwide. By 2008 Moria began traveling to Thailand and India to deepen her understanding of yoga, Thai, and Odissi dance. Now, in 2016, Moria has taught and performed in virtually every major city in the world. She teaches in Washington DC on a regular basis and continues her Odissi dance and spiritual studies by traveling to India annually, and by studying with Dr. Ratna Roy. 3:00pm to 5:00pm Victoria Teel: “The Teel Fan Method” Victoria will introduce a new method and variation on the ancient Asian- influenced prop, flutter fan, in this workshop. Inspired by the breathless and elegance of Chinese silk, the Teel Fan method presents techniques and combinations used to create beautiful fan dancing. No prior experience with fan veil is required or necessary. Class Level: Advanced Beginners and higher. Needed for Class: Short Flutter Fan (Victoria will Supply 10) Bio: Victoria Teel is an award winning belly dance performer and instructor. Quickly growing a passion for the dance and culture, she soon worked with internationally acclaimed artists, directors, and producers. In 2010, Victoria was chosen along with 24 other dancers to participate in the world’s first ever belly dance reality show, Project Belly Dance. She placed among the top six contestants, earning her spot in the Final 6 instructional DVD released in March 2011. Soon after Project Belly Dance, Victoria joined Miles Copeland's Bellydance Superstars in Japan for the tour of Bombay Bellywood. She then was chosen along with four other Bellydance Superstars to participate in their newest tour, Club Bellydance. She is currently a member of the Bellydance Superstars. Victoria is internationally recognized for her unique fluid dance style and effortless execution. Her instruction method focuses on flow and how to create a seamless piece of choreography for any style. She is also the creator of the Teel Fan Method, a dance technique using fans and fan veils incorporating influences from Asian dances. Beginning in 2006, Victoria Teel has studied multiple dance styles including Egyptian, Turkish, American Cabaret, Egyptian Folklore, and Spanish fusion belly dance. She is current full time student of Faten Salama, a renowned Egyptian Folklore dancer and choreographer.
