Sleeping Beauty Presented By The Russian National Ballet Theatre

The Moscow Festival Ballet returns to Ruth Eckerd Hall to perform Sleeping Beauty on Thursday, March 2 at 7 pm. Often considered the finest achievement of the classical ballet, Sleeping Beauty takes inspiration from a well-known fairy tale. An evil fairy condemns a baby princess to prick her finger and die on her sixteenth birthday. But the Lilac Fairy saves the child by declaring the injury will merely put the princess to sleep until awakened by a prince’s kiss. This piece is filled with a king and a queen, good and bad fairies, a beautiful princess and a dreamy prince, magical stage effects, courtly splendor and a storybook kingdom from the realm of the imagination. The Moscow Festival Ballet was founded in 1989 when legendary principal dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet Sergei Radchenko sought to realize his vision of a company, which would bring together the highest classical elements of the great Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet companies in an independent new company within the framework of Russian classic ballet. Leading dancers from across Russia have forged under Radchenko’s direction and this exciting company will be staging a new production of the timeless classic Sleeping Beauty. More Info below.
