Application Deadline: Jan. 2018 Emerging Choreographer Residency

What: Opportunity to reset your choreography on the Columbus Modern (CoMo) Dance Company. If selected, your work would be performed at the company's Extend, Alight, Affect - 5th Anniversary Gala performance at the Abbey Theatre of Dublin on February 10, 2018 at 2:00pm. Selection Process: All video submissions will be reviewed by our adjudication panel: Company director, Laura Puscas; Board President, Kelsey Morozow; and CoMo II Director, Caroline Martin. One emerging choreographer will be selected. When: A series of three 1.5 hour weeknight rehearsals or two 2-hour weekend rehearsals in January 2018 to reset your choreography. You should be prepared to reset the full work within approximately 3-6 hours of rehearsal. Please plan to attend or provide lighting direction for a Wed, 1/31 tech rehearsal (between 7:30-10pm). Weekly company rehearsals are Tues/Wed/Thurs from 8:30-10pm at Dublin Dance Centre. We can work with your schedule & the company schedule to find a weekend or weeknight to rehearse at DDC or downtown at the Galbreath Pavilion. Stipend: A $100 stipend will be awarded to the selected choreographer. If you are selected as CoMo's 2018 Emerging Choreographer, you will also be awarded 2 comp tickets to this February 10th performance to view your work. Cast size can be variable in the video, but the piece should be able to be performed with 1-10 female professional dancers. Genre should be modern/contemporary dance or a complementary style. Include a headshot & dance resume. If you don't have a resume, now is a great time to create one! Or, we will also accept a playbill biography paragraph explaining your dance experience. Eligible applicants should be current undergraduate or graduate college students (or trained dancers of equivalent age/experience level). Please list your current year in school, major/minor, and educational institution. If you are not a student, please include a sentence about why you consider yourself an "emerging" artist.
