Kicking off MOVING TARGET PORTLAND 2018, we have “Modern Dance for the Complete & Utter Beginner” with Kerry Constantino Jan 21, 1-3pm, $8-16 sliding scale. (This is the beginning of a PERFORMANCE PROJECT directed by Kerry & Kristen Stake. FMI: [hidden]) Kerry Constantino grew up in Missoula, Montana and continued her study of dance at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. It was there, studying under Bill Evans and Jennifer Predock-Linnell, that she was first introduced to somatic movement practices and multimedia dance and performance art. In the years since, she has studied with and performed work for many great artists such as Bill Evans Dance Co., Jean Isaacs San Diego Dance Theater, Katie Stevenson Nollet, and Blythe Barton to name a few. Drawing from her roots in dance, she creates layered and multi-dimensional work that often integrates athletic movement, photography, video, fiber arts, and sound to create a reflection of the world around her. Using the different media available to her she makes thoughtful expressive work that creates an altered state of perception for both the performer and the audience, where movement is codified. “Artistic creation is part and parcel to who I am. I find inspiration everywhere I go, from the most enchanting wonders of nature to the most overlooked everyday encounters, there is an unending well of subjects.” More Info below.
