Monday nights at Indianapolis Movement Arts Collective are now Pay What You Can. Join IMAC and Crossroads Dance Indy for some modern moving that does not break the bank! Tonight's class will be taught by Crossroads Dance Indy member Hannah Jordan Wilhite. Hannah's modern class is based around the idea of body awareness and physicality. She draws upon many styles and techniques including Graham, Horton, Limon, Release and Counter Techniques, as well as Bartiniev principles. Class will include concepts from each technique, such as contraction, high release, neutral spine, fall and recovery, catch and release, flat back, lateral bends and T's, head/tail connection, and movement and weightedness through the floor, to name a few. Dancers will be encouraged to explore concepts and movements in their own bodies, which will be a unique experience to each mover. H annah grew up dancing at Anderson Young Ballet Theatre, studying ballet, pointe, modern, jazz and tap. She then attending Point Park University and graduated with a dual concentration B.A. in Jazz and Modern Dance Performance. At Point Park she had the privilege of studying a wide variety of techniques and styles with many teachers. Since graduation Hannah has worked as a company dancer with Sarasota Contemporary Dance (Sarasota, FL), Kanopy Dance Company (Madison, WI) Phoenix Rising Dance Company (Indianapolis, IN), Ballet Theatre of Indiana, Crossroads Dance Indy (Indianapolis), as well as working as a project based dancer for Elizabeth Weil Bergmann (Sarasota, FL).
