CJ has been dancing and teaching salsa for a total of 32 years. As a youth in his mothers dance group, Nuestras Raices, he was an instructor, choreographer and performer for the group that performed at local functions. The group went on to become the opening act for salsa concerts that performed in the area and shared the stage with salsa legends as: Frankie Ruiz, La India, El Cano Estremera, El Canario, Luisito Carreon, and others.He continued to teach and dance even after his mother retired to Puerto Rico and the group disbanded. As an adult solo performer in Puerto Rico he opened up for Michael Stuart and Andy Montanez. Upon returning to the continental US, he began to perform with local dance groups in Texas. He resurrected his mothers dance groupin 2002 and opened a studio dedicated to youth cultural dance studies and modern Latin dances. Both the performing group and his studio were named Patria. He continues to teach locally, at Arjons International Night club and is forever dedicated to his love for the art of dance. More Info below.
