Welcome home, butterfly! We are excited that you want to start dancing again! This is your safe path back to dance, and we welcome you with open arms! We are excited that it is time for you to come back to dance. Your first class with us is on us (no payment required). Our 45-minute, Intro to The Dancer's Workout® class is a great way to start! Taught by Tori, one of our TDW-Certified Instructors, you will begin to rediscover your love of dance and gradually get yourself moving again. Tori will teach you the choreography that we are currently doing in our classes and will guide you through the warm-up songs and some of our light cardio songs. She is available to answer questions and break things down if you need it. Since Tori teaches the same choreography we are doing in all of our other classes, she'll prepare you to join any of our other classes taught during the week. If you would like to take a peek at what she will teach you, please check out this choreography review video prior to your first class: [hidden]. Thanks for taking a chance with us! We are delighted to welcome you into the TDW family! If you have not seen our RED CARPET for New TDW Students, please check this out: [hidden]. It contains directions, a video about what to expect when you arrive, and lots of other tips about starting your journey back to dance. Below is some additional information you might also find helpful. Here is the RSVP/sign-up process for this class: IN-PERSON ATTENDANCE: Please RSVP here on meetup for each class you would like to take ([hidden]) If the class is full, you can waitlist and see if a spot becomes available. If you RSVP and your plans change, please immediately change your RSVP on this meetup so any waitlisted dancers can have your spot. No shows (i.e., dancers who RSVP for the in-person class but do not show up for class) will forfeit their "free first class" if they are a new student and will be charged for the class if they are an existing student. Dancers who change their RSVP to NO less than one hour prior to the class start time will also be charged for the class. General Description of our Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday classes: The Dancer's Workout® (TDW) is a super-fun, high-energy, intermediate-level adult dance class/dance fitness option for current and former dancers. Unless we are at the beginning of a choreography cycle, each TDW class assumes that everyone has watched the choreography review video so that we are all on the same page and all ready to jump into class. Each one-hour class includes careful warm-up and stretching, toning exercises, a thorough dance cardio workout, and "bikini bootcamp" (our choreographed toning exercises done on the floor). Intermediate, advanced, and advanced-beginner adult dancers love how the entire class is choreographed to our favorite pop songs and how the class keeps everyone moving the entire time. The Dancer's Workout® is NOT a beginner's dance class; it requires a minimum of two years of prior training in ballet (no matter how long ago). Every TDW masterclass includes movement sequences from multiple genres of dance, including ballet, jazz, contemporary and beginner's hip-hop. Its instructional choreography builds upon itself throughout the hour and offers a powerful, non-stop dance cardio workout which culminates in a dance to a featured pop song. The class is great for former dancers who want to find their way back home and for active dancers interested in maintaining flexibility and cardio fitness. Split-sole jazz sneakers or jazz slippers are the best types of shoes for this class; however, ballet slippers are also fine. Jules, the founder of The Dancer's Workout®, is a classical ballet graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, who has an infectious love of dance and who focuses on inspiring adult, former dancers to begin dancing again with The Dancer's Workout® classes. Very supportive atmosphere, especially for former dancers who want to dance again.
