Bachata is an easy and popular part of the LA dance scene and is danced worldwide as well. Perfect for weddings and parties as a go-to no matter what is being played. Salsa clubs always mix in Bachata. Be aware this class is being held at the Canyon Country Community Center. Guests can watch from the hallway through the glass but only enrollees are permitted inside the dance area. Co-hosted by the /City of Santa Clarita- you must sign up online through the "Santa Clarita Seasons" website to enroll. This dance course develops steps, and simple patterns for partner dancing- and leads directly into intermediate techniques that may need only practice instead of classes. Bachata has recently evolved into several genres- we do not teach "the sensual style" as this deviates from the traditional purpose of Bachata, which is originally a style for the shy and polite. This is a partner dance, but for class, no partner is required. We use partner rotation to expand experience and skill techniques, but couples who do not wish to rotate may stay together. Flat-soled, non-textured-bottomed shoes are helpful. Don't buy dance shoes for this casual style. Most dancers master the basic steps and learn quickly. In about 3 weeks, most generally move into more intermediate skills. Some may want to take the course twice to nail down those fundamentals. To see the uniqueness and sounds of Bachata, you may wish to use YouTube.
