Indonesia's WILDEST Ritual, Part 2 🇮🇩

Welcome to the Kuda Lumping Main Event. The earlier performance that you saw in the previous video was just a warm-up. The longer and full show took place later that evening. It was pretty much the same thing as before, just with more people participating and getting "possessed". I start the video off though looking for the man that arranged my trip to Bromo. I never paid him because he sent his son to pick me up and his son told me to pay his father directly. So, I went on another manhunt through the village looking for him. The people of the village are all super nice and patient with me, especially when I don't know how to pronounce words. I think they all got a good laugh out of it though. This ritual is called Kuda Lumping. Kuda Lumping is a traditional Javanese dance originating from the story of Ronggo Lawe. Ronggolawe is considered a rebel of the Majapahit Kingdom, but for some people, particularly in Tuban, he was considered a hero. Kuda Lumping represents Ronggolawe's cavalry, with his horse, named Gagak Rimang. Dancers "ride" horses made from woven bamboo and decorated with colorful paints and cloth. Generally, the dance portrays troops riding horses, but another type of Kuda Lumping performance also incorporates trances and magic tricks. When the "possessed" dancer is performing the dance in trance conditions, he can display unusual abilities, such as eating glass and resistance to the effects of whipping or hot coals.
