Maculelê - The Call and 1st Step

Learn a very brief history and the beginnings of this important Afro-Brazilian Dance. This dance was taught to me by Anthony DeQuattro at a Summer Course on World Drumming and Dance. I don't claim to be an authority on the subject, but have been intrigued by both the Maculelê's rich history and exciting movements ever since I learned it. Future videos will teach further steps and incorporate some of the "clashes" traditionally done with sticks or machetes. Many of these images were from wikipedia.
