Rasalila is an exuberant & colorful dance filled with love & aesthetic enjoyment by the ever charming personality KRISHNA [ Blue God ] and the beautiful gopika girls from Brindavan. It is derived from Krishna’s life as described in the ancient scripture Bhagavatha Purana. Krishna is seen having an ecstatic dance of love with Radha & other gopikas (milkmaids from Brindavan). At one stage when the tender feelings of the girls change to a pride of being the most favored one, & Kishna goes away from them. Finally, the Gopikas together realize that only selflessness would win back the love of Krishna & surrender their pride for pure love. Rasalila is a dance of love , separation, re-union and celebration. This is presented in Kathak dance style the Dance Drama tradition of Uttar Pradesh -North India. Music : Praveen Rao Choreography : Nirupama & Rajendra Presentation : Abhinava Dance Company, Bangalore.
